Sustainable Farm Law 101, March 22 in Driggs:

Offered in partnership with Farm Commons, University of Idaho Extension is bringing this custom-created workshop to Eastern Idaho. This workshop will give sustainable farmers the resources to address the basics of land use and leasing, farm financing, farm events, value-added production, business entities, insurance, sales contracts, and food safety (including the new FDA Food Safety Modernization Act regulations). Answers aren’t always easy to come by- but that’s why Farm Commons exists. We provide farmers with proactive legal resources. This interactive workshop will get farmers talking and taking action to reduce legal risk.  Farm Commons focuses on co-presentations with local experts- farmers themselves who have addressed legal issues- to create compelling, practical, and informative presentations that speak to farmers. The workshop will be taught by attorney Rachel Armstrong of Farm Commons and Sue Miller of Snowdrift Farms, owner of a certified organic farm in Victor, ID. The workshop will be held from 8:30am-5pm at the Teton County Extension office ($25/person; includes lunch and workshop materials if registered by March 20).
