There are several programs that can provide property tax relief for homeowners.
The following programs are detailed below:
PROPERTY TAX REDUCTION (PTR)
VETERANS PROPERTY TAX REDUCTION
PROPERTY TAX DEFERRAL PROGRAM
PROPERTY TAX REDUCTION (PTR) PROGRAM:
Qualified Idaho homeowners may be eligible for the Property Tax Reduction program (also known as Circuit Breaker program).
Based on your 2022 income, the program may reduce property taxes on your home and 1 acre of land by as much as $1,500.
You are an Idaho resident.
You own and occupy your home or mobile home, and the value doesn't exceed a limit set by law that will be calculated in June 2023.
Your total 2022 income, after deducting medical expenses, was $33,870 or less.
You are any of the following as of January 1, 2023:
65 or older
Former POW or hostage
Motherless or fatherless child under 18
Blind
Widow(er)
Disabled as recognized by the Social Security Administration, Railroad Retirement Board, Federal Civil Service, Veterans Affairs, or public employment retirement system not covered by these agencies.
APPLICATION PERIOD:
JANUARY 1 TO APRIL 18TH OF EACH YEAR
HOW TO APPLY:
There are several ways to apply for PTR.
1. Make an appointment with the Assessor's office.

Make sure to bring all of the neccessary information for the application process.
The Assessor's office can help fill out the application based on the information you provide.
Include the following:
Proof of income
Proof of medical and funeral expenses
Proof that the applicant(s) meet the requirements (age over 65, blind, VA disability, etc.)
Must have home ownership
2. Fill out the application yourself and submit it to the Assessor's office by appointment (be sure to bring the neccessary documents to prove you qualify).
To obtain the application you can contact the Assessor's office or download the application from the Idaho State Tax Commission website at: tax.idaho.gov/property.
3. NEW for the 2023 year, applications can be submitted online through the Idaho Tax Commission.

VETERANS PROPERTY TAX REDUCTION:
The Veterans Property Tax Reduction benefit reduces property taxes for qualified 100% service-connected disabled veterans.
If you qualify, property taxes on your home and up to one acre of land may be reduced by as much as $1,500.
There is no income limit!
Once granted, a surviving spouse can use this benefit, but it is not transferable to a new property after the death of the qualifying veteran.
APPLICATION PERIOD:
JANUARY 1 TO APRIL 18TH OF EACH YEAR
You are recognized as a 100% service-connected disabled veteran or receive 100% compensation due to individual unemployability by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as of January 1, 2023.
You owned and lived in a home in Idaho that was your primary residence before April 15, 2023.
The property must have a current homeowner's exemption.
The home can be a mobile home.

PROPERTY TAX DEFERRAL PROGRAM:
The Property Tax Deferral program allows qualified individuals a way to defer property taxes on their home and up to 1 acre of land.
Certain guidelines apply in order to qualify for this program.

JANUARY 1 TO SEPTEMBER 5, 2023
